During the season of Lent, we have numerous opportunities to worship in ways that will draw us closer to God.

The season begins on Ash Wednesday. On this day, we remember our own humanity and frailness. We remember our sin and lack of ability to save ourselves. As a part of this service, the pastor will make the sign of the cross on your forehead with ashes made from palm branches. As he does this he will say, "From dust you came and to dust you shall return."

Another important part of the season of Lent is Holy Week. During the week that leads up to Easter Sunday, we begin to focus upon the events of Jesus final week as he enters into Jerusalem on the day we call Palm Sunday.

The first major event of Holy Week will be the Holy Thursday service. This service is a time to remember the last night that Jesus had with his disciples. During the service we specifically remember two actions that Christ did. The first, was that he washed the disciple's feet. We will likewise, wash one another's feet as a part of this service.

The second action was the institution of the Lord's Supper. We will also celebrate this sacrament that he left for the church's spiritual enhancement.

The second major event of Holy Week is Good Friday. On this day, we remember Christ's death on the cross for our sins.
